Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said that he would not support Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Tanvir Sait if he committed a mistake.

Speaking with media persons at Belgaum Airport, the chief minister said that he would take action against Minister Tanvir Sait only after knowing the facts about the incident taken place during Tipu Jayanti celebrations at Raichur. “Mistake is a mistake whether it is committed by BJP leaders or others. I have spoken with Minister Tanvir Sait over the phone. He said that he was in Raichur and meet me tomorrow to give explanation about the incident,” the chief minister said.

He said that Tanvir Sait told him that he was scrolling the messages received on WhatApp and not watching obscene scenes on mobile phone. “The minister told me that he was ready for any inquiry,” he said.

The chief minister was on a tour to visit drought-affected areas in Belgaum district. He said the priority would be given to provide drinking water, fodder for cattle and employment for labourers in drought-hit areas in Belgaum district. “We have already appealed the Central Government to allocate funds for the drought relief works,” he said.

On taking action against Belagavi City Corporation, the chief minister said the government has sought legal opinion on this issue. Minister for Small Scale Industries Ramesh Jarkiholi, legislators Satish Jarkiholi, Ashok Pattana, Feroze Sait and Ganesh Hukkeri and MP Prakash Hukkeri were present on the occasion.
