Bengaluru: After being expelled from the Bahujan Samaj Party, an ally of the Congress-Janata Dal (S) state coalition, its lone MLA N Mahesh has given his clarification.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, July 24, he said, “I have not disobeyed the commands of the BSP high command. Being expelled from the party does not mean I am leaving the party.”

“We contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, independently, by the orders of BSP chief Mayawati and even when it comes to local body elections, we have won more number of seats against the Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition”, he added.

Clarifying on skipping the floor test in favour of Congress-JDS coalition, Mahesh said, “I was directed by our central leader and Rajya Sabha member Dr. Ashok Siddharth. Under his direction, I stayed in my native. Hence, this doesn’t amount to overruling the high command orders.”

“The reason for all these confusions is miscommunication. Even though I am expelled from the party, I will chose to remain firmly with BSP and stand by it”, he added.

It may be recalled that yesterday, Mahesh was absent during the floor test for the Congress-JDS state coalition. As soon as the coalition failed the test, the coalition leaders and its MLAs walked out of the House, Mayawati had immediately taken to Twitter and announced that the party had decided to expel Mahesh for not participating in the confidence motion.
