Bengaluru: A 33-year-old woman from Bengaluru is currently receiving treatment at Victoria Hospital after being assaulted with a scissor and a knife by her husband. The incident occurred at their residence in JP Nagar, where their minor daughter sought help from neighbors, who promptly rushed the victim to the nearby hospital. Identified as Bindu Naveen, a resident of Kaveri Road in Vinayaka Nagar of JP Nagar 5th phase, Bindu was attacked between 6 pm and 8 pm on Sunday by her 42-year-old husband, Naveen.
The victim, a mother of two and employed at a private company, married Naveen in 2012. Previous suspicions arose when Naveen witnessed Bindu conversing with someone on the phone. The attack on Sunday unfolded when a male colleague visited Bindu’s residence for work-related discussions. Infuriated by his wife’s interaction, Naveen verbally abused her and then proceeded to physically assault her with a scissor and a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds. Bindu’s daughter’s quick response seeking assistance from neighbors played a crucial role in saving her mother’s life.
This was not the first instance of Naveen attempting to harm his wife. In 2023, he allegedly tried to kill her with an iron rod in Bannerghatta Forest, driven by suspicion. The Puttenahalli police have filed a case in this regard.
Upon admission to Victoria Hospital, a medico-legal case was registered, and local authorities were informed. Police have initiated an investigation, and charges against the accused include voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon, wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
