Bengaluru: A complaint has been registered against the Vani Vilas Hospital staff alleging cheating. It is learnt that 25-year-old woman’s newborn baby was exchanged for another baby at the State-run Vani Vilas Hospital on Thursday.

According to sources Sagar said that his sister, Sudha, had delivered twins on Thursday after a caesarean operation.

“After the operation, the doctor came out and told that she had delivered boys, but one was a still born. Minutes later, the nurse came out and said that the child is alive and was a girl. The boy baby has been exchanged and we were given a girl child. We refuse to believe she is our child,” he said. He alleged that hospital authorities were unavailable to listen to their grievance.

Sagar said police visited the hospital on Thursday and discussed the matter with the staff. “They told us that they would conduct a detailed enquiry on Friday. The mother and the girl child have been kept under observation. We do not know where the boy child is,” he said.

However, hospital authorities denied the incident and said that the family began to make allegations against the hospital as they were shocked after learning that one of the twins was dead. “We are sure that no mistake has happened on our part. We are ready to prove this through a DNA test,” the hospital source said.
