Bangalore: “Hosabelaku” makes its way back to the stage. It is always a tough ask to turn a movie into a theatre play. Hosabelaku being a super hit movie of the all-time superstar Dr. Rajkumar, not letting anyone and anything down makes it a huge responsibility for the director and his team. Every time the play has been staged the audience walked out with the play in their mind and not so much the movie making the effort worthwhile.

The play is very finely scripted by Chandan Shankar and P. D. Satish Chandra keeping in mind both the old and the contemporary scenarios in our social setup. Some of the characters have been transformed to be a lot more soft and subtle and yet cunning and meticulous as in the current scenario. Very few loud scenes and no over the top dialogues makes the play contemporary and was appreciated by people from both Dr. Rajkumar’ s era and the current era. This adaptation has characters in it which makes the play very theatrical and yet has the right amount of celluloid gimmicks – must say a good mixture of both.
The play in all its performances has won the hearts of many theatre enthusiasts and introduced new audience to the theatre world.
The cast is refreshed with this outing and has some of the well-known names from the theater and small screen world. The Lead male is played by Khuldeepak Narayan, while Divya Karanth plays Vatsala the protagonist of our play. Raji Achar plays the step mom and Chandan Shankar is donning the henpecked husband’s role. Veda is played by Anunitya an old time prakasamite while new find Pavan plays Murthy. Shruthi Raghunandan plays Latha, Nagraj her dad and Kaushthubh plays Vasu.
