Bengaluru: In a recent development, the Special Wing of the Central City Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru has apprehended four individuals, including a married couple, on charges of honey-trapping an industrialist.
The investigation uncovered a scheme in which the husband portrayed his wife as a widow, sending her to trap the industrialist to extort money.
The arrested individuals, identified as Khaleem, Sabha, Obed Rakeem, and Ateeq, targeted industrialist Atiullah. Khaleem presented his wife Sabha as a widow to Atiullah, urging him to look after her. Subsequently, Atiullah and Sabha developed a physical relationship.
Sabha then convinced the victim to accompany her to a hotel in RR Nagar, providing his Aadhar card for booking. Once inside the hotel room, the accused barged in, demanding Rs 6 lakh from Atiullah to keep the affair confidential from his family.
Upon receiving information, CCB police promptly raided the hotel, catching the accused in the act and taking them into custody. Authorities suspect the involvement of the arrested individuals in a series of honey-trapping and extortion cases.
An FIR is being filed at RR Nagar police station, and further investigation is currently underway.
