Bengaluru: A petition has been filed in the Karnataka High Court seeking to invalidate Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s election as an MLA. As per the petition, Siddaramaiah alleged voter enticement with guaranteed promises during the elections.

During the election period, the Congress party enticed voters by announcing five guarantees. This violates section 123(1) of the Representation of the People Act, which prohibits offering bribes. And as per the act, distributing guarantee cards to voters amounts to bribery.

K.M. Shankar and a group of individuals lodged a formal complaint with the High Court, aiming to invalidate Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s election as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The High Court took cognizance of the petition and issued a notice to Siddaramaiah, summoning him to respond and present his defense in this matter. The case is now set to proceed through the legal process to determine the validity of the allegations.
