Bengaluru: The state government has been directed by High Court to hold BBMP election before May 30 2015 and also to prepare the reservation list by April 13.
A petition was filed earlier this month by city corporators and voters seeking for a direction to the state government to hold time bound election to the BBMP.
On March 17, Justice B V Nagarathna had reserved orders after hearing the submissions of Advocate General (AG) Ravivarma Kumar that the term of the present BBMP council expires on April 22.
The bench rejected the state government’s excuse of bifurcation or trifurcation and said elections must be held.
The bench also rejected state Election Commission’s excuse of not receiving any reply from the state government with regard to holding elections.
