Bengaluru: The Hennuru flyover is all set to get inaugurated today by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, but the citizens of Sarvajna Nagar are furious against the government for inaugurating the flyover, which they allege has been completed in haste. The below par work on the project has resulted in Crores of public money being wasted, locals complained.

The flyover project which is near Hennuru Junction was completely neglected from past 8 years. However, the bridge which will be inaugurated today was asphalted yesterday morning using some gravels and tar. The locals who witnessed the work, challenge that the asphalting would tear into pieces within a month. They complained that the workers didn’t follow any of the steps which need to be followed before asphalting.

Where is the money?: Thee initial estimate for the 600-meter long flyover was pegged at around Rs.22 crores. A revised estimate later however put the cost at Rs.54.64 crores. The work started on June 28, 2016, but progressed very slowly.

Even the length of the ramps of fly-over was decreased by 100-feet. Though the citizens objected that it would affect free-movement of vehicles in the flyover, work continued. Now, people of this part are angry with the state government that the government wants to inaugurate the work and they don’t mind about the quality of the work and its purpose, said the sources.
