^{Sringeri town in Chikkamagaluru witnessed heavy rainfall on Friday}

Bengaluru: Amid soaring temperatures, heavy rainfall accompanied by hailstorm, has been reported from several parts of the state. There are, however, no reports of damage to property or human life.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) authorities, the rains started on Friday afternoon in parts of Kodagu including Napoklu, Balamuri and Parane. Rains were also reported from Balehonnur, Sringeri of the Chikkamagaluru district. By the evening, heavy rainfall was reported from various parts of the Shivamogga district.

Other areas that received rainfall include Tarikere, Shikaripura, Davanagere, Arsikere, Malebennur, Hosadurga, Holalkere, Dharwad etc.

“The rain is expected to continue for a few more days. It is also expected to bring the temperature down by 2 or 3 degrees Celsius,” explained an officer from the IMD.
