Ramanagara: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has written a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI), here on Tuesday, March 26, requesting it to allow the farmers’ loan waiver scheme implemented by the Congress and Janata Dal (S) led state coalition government citing that the Central government still continued to transfer money into farmers’ account under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, violating the election Model Code of Conduct.

He addressed an open-air conference in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office before the filing of nomination by Congress candidate from Bengaluru Rural Constituency and D K Shivakumar’s brother, D K Suresh.

CM HDK said, “The election commission has restrained state government’s farmers’ loan waiver scheme based on election model code of conduct, though the scheme exists since the past six months. However, EC has allowed the Centre to transfer Rs. 2000 to the farmer’s account under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana”.

“The state coalition government has released Rs 11000 Crore in the second phase of farmers’ loan waiver scheme, but it is not reaching the farmers because of strict orders by the Chief Election Commissioner”, he added.

CM HDK said that the coalition government condemns this decision by the election commission.
