Bengaluru: The formation of the cabinet has encountered bottleneck in the JDS-Congress coalition government in the state. With this, it has been decided that H D Kumaraswamy will be the only one who will take oath on Wednesday.
According to the sources, soon after the oath-taking as the Chief Minister, Kumaraswamy has to prove the numbers during the floor test. Both the Congress and the JDS have the fear that their MLAs, who will be denied cabinet berth may show their back during the floor test. So, leaders of both the parties have decided to form the cabinet only after proving their majority in the floor test.
So, Kumaraswamy may take oath as the Chief Minister on Wednesday and he would prove the majority in Vidhana Sabha on Thursday. Before that, there will be the selection of Speaker. The expansion of the cabinet will be held on Friday (May 25) and new ministers will take the oath. But, who all will be in the cabinet has not been finalized yet.
Fear of ‘Operation Kamala’!
Earlier, there was a discussion on Kumaraswamy’s oath-taking along with few ministers. But in both the parties there are more than 60 aspirants eying ministership. For the deputy chief minister post, Dalits, Lingayats and Muslim communities have kept forth their demand. The coalition government may be at risk if the aspirants who don’t get ministership shift loyalties. In the meantime, both the parties are still under the fear of ‘operation Kamala’ by the BJP.
Series of meetings
Meanwhile, delegated CM and JDS State President H D Kumaraswamy carried out series of meetings with senior Congress leaders including State Congress in-Charge K C Venugopal, former CM Siddaramaiah, KPCC President Dr. G Parameshwara, Lokasabha Opposition leader Mallikarjuna Kharge and others regarding the appointments in the new government. Earlier, both the parties carried out separate meetings with their MLAs and collected their opinion.
