Bengaluru: The High Court has directed journalists Ravi Belagare and Anil Raj to appear before the Assembly Speaker on Monday, June 3.
The High Court said that a new memorandum should be submitted by the duo to re-examine the decision taken in the House Privilege Committee.
AAG Ponnanna, who responded to an advocate’s concern over the possible arrest of his clients while appearing in the front of the Speaker, negated such a possibility.
The judges told the advocate to approach the court at any given time in such a situation. The bench dismissed the petition by the advocate asking the court to order not to arrest the duo.
The bench warned that if the petitioners disobey or continue to use unethical language, the House may be forced to take more stringent action against them. The bench finally directed the petitioners to maintain the journalistic ethos in a democratic manner.
