Bengaluru: The ‘Cauvery Calling’ campaign, that was launched by the Isha Foundation, was pulled up by the Karnataka High Court who asked who would be leading the agroforestry initiative- the Foundation or the state government.

Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Abhay Shreeniwas Oka posed this question to the state government’s counsel. The HC was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by advocate AV Amarnath questioning the state government’s support of the ‘Cauvery Calling’ project.

He asked if the state government was driving the initiative and how the Isha Foundation is claiming the campaign as its own, adding that they should not be influenced by the fact that influential people (referring to Jaggi Vasudev aka Sadhguru) are connected with the project.

Justice Oka also asked the counsel if the state governments will place on the record or issue a notification that the Isha Foundation will not collect funds in Cauvery Calling’s name.

The state government and Isha Foundation have been given three weeks to submit their objections and the next hearing was set for July 3.
