Hassan, Mar 26: In a ghastly mishap that took place at Kattarighatta in Channarayapatna taluk here on Tuesday March 26, five persons died on the spot and another lies in critical condition.
A petroleum-laden tanker plying from Mangalore to Bangalore rammed Mangalore-bound ambulance on the national highway at Kattarighatta, near here on Tuesday early morning.
The ambulance was carrying a critically-ill patient from Puttaparti in Andhra Pradesh (AP) to a hospital in Mangalore, when an oncoming tanker rammed the ambulance.
The deceased have been identified as Ravi, Shekhar, Thomas, Edward and Jeffrey.
The name of the critically injured is not yet known, who has been admitted to the district hospital.
