Bengaluru: “Modi had promised a lot during his Lok Sabha election campaign, but during the last one-year rule so far, there is a sense of disappointment among people who had expected a lot from the Prime Minister,” said Former Prime Minister and JDS chief H D Deve Gowda on Saturday June 13.
In an interaction programme organized by the Bangalore Reporters’ Guild and Bangalore Press Club he said that people are getting disappointed with the central government for not meeting their expectations.
He, however, lauded the Modi government for giving scam-free one year in office unlike the Congress rule which was ‘infested’ with various corruption charges.
On the contrary, recalling the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Gowda said that he had made a challenge in the elections that if BJP secures over 376-mark, he would resign, which Gowda did after the BJP’s profuse victory. However he said, “Modi requested me not to resign and that my presence was necessary in Parliament.”
Reiterating that he was not contesting in the next election to Parliament, Mr. Gowda said that he would be 87 by 2019, when the term ends. However, he said he never lost interest in politics.
