Bengaluru: The HSR Layout police have launched a manhunt for a man who checked into a hotel in HSR Layout left with the LCD TV installed in his room.
The police said the accused had checked in four days ago posing as a businessman. His ID card mentioned his name as Devraj, which later turned out to be fake. The incident came to light when the hotel staff noticed that he was not seen for four days. They called on his contact number, but his phone was switched off.
When staff went to his room, they noticed that the TV was missing. On checking CCTV footage, they saw him walking out carrying a huge black box. “Similar cases have been reported from various parts of the city,” a senior police officer said.
In his complaint, Mohammed Ismail, the hotel manager, stated that the suspect booked the room on January 14 and paid an advance of Rs 1,800. It is said the accused, while checking in, had carried a huge bag which he said contained business material.
