GST evasion: Penalty slammed on jewelers, 60 kg gold without document found

Bengaluru: The Commercial Tax department authorities unearthed a huge scam and slammed penalties on jewellers for selling 60 kilograms of gold without GST.

Total value of the gold was Rs.21 crores and a GST evasion of Rs.1.21 crores has been traced at the time of raids. 

 

This scam has been reported from Chikpet area in the city.

According to the authorities, this scam was unearthed after analysing the GST data uploaded on the GST website.

At the time of raid, a few tried to run with 3.5 kilograms of gold which was seized and penalty amount was collected.

According to the sources, raids were carried out simultaneously at 23 places across the Chikpet, the commercial hub of the city.

Penalty has been imposed on all the jewellers for GST evasion.
