Bangalore :In an effort to ensure better and efficient farming activity in dry land region, the State government has chalked out a mission plan for dry land farming, under Krishi Bhagya Scheme.
The government is looking to initiate a dedicated Krishi Bhagya Mission for the purpose. The mission, it is expected, will ensure there is a dedicated set of hands to concentrate on the scheme and reach out to more farmers in a phased manner in the next few years.
The scheme, announced in the 2014-15 budget, intends to encourage modern technology and appropriate crop pattern for increasing agriculture yield in the State.
It will concentrate on 46 lakh hectares of land in 23 districts, primarily concentrating on North Karnataka regions, which are starved of rainfall each year. A budgetary allocation of Rs 500 crore has been made for the first financial year of 2014-15.
