Bangalore: Minister for Transport and city in charge Ramalinga Reddy speaking to the media after inaugurating of a painting competition for children and exhibition of rare paintings and photographs of Roerich said that the government is considering developing the over 400-acre Tataguni Estate on Kanakapura Road that was once home to Russian artist Svetoslav Roerich and his actor-wife Devika Rani.
“The Roerich estate was well maintained and if the State government develops it on the lines of Lalbagh and Cubbon Park, it can attract visitors and can be used to display the works of the artist,” he said.
Over 200 children participated in the on-the-spot painting competition and 24 of them were awarded prizes.
The organizers had displayed Roerich’s 18 paintings and photograph collection to observe his 110th birth anniversary and 140th birth anniversary of his father, Nicholas Roerich.
The valedictory function was presided over by the former External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in India Alexander M. Kadakin.
The exhibition is on till Wednesday.
