Bangalore : The state government has entered into an agreement to purchase 2000 mw of electricity to ensure regular power supply in the state which is seeing a sharp rise in the demand for electricity.

This was informed by Energy Minister DK Shivakumar in the Assembly on Friday June 27. IF the demand for electricity stood at 8500 mw, the state’s power generation from all sources stood at 7000 mw. He also admitted that the inefficiency of power network has led to transmission losses.
Shivakumar informed that the State Power Transmission Corporation intends to generate 700 mw of electricity from the third plant at Bellary.
Along with this there is also hopes that eh Yermarus power plant would start generating 1000 mw of electricity by the beginning of next year, he stated.
