Bengaluru: The resignation letter of primary and secondary education minister N Mahesh was accepted by Karnataka Governor, Vajubhai Vala on Monday, October 15.
The sole BSP MLA and cabinet minister N Mahesh, who was elected from the Kollegal constituency, had tendered his resignation to the state cabinet on October 11, following the directions of his party’s national leadership. His resignation was, however, kept pending by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, as he wanted to try and convince Mayawati to allow Mahesh to continue as a member of his cabinet.
On Monday morning, BSP national general secretary Satish Chandra Misra held a discussion with CM HDK and requested him to accept the resignation and forward it to the Governor. As per the request, the CM forwarded Mahesh’s resignation letter to the Governor, who accepted it immediately, said sources at the Chief Minister’s Office.
Meanwhile, Mahesh has clarified that the party will continue to support the JDS-Congress alliance in the state.
