Bengaluru: A committee of retired judges has been set up by the Governer Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, who is also the Chancellor of all Universities in Karnataka comprising K.M. Bhakthavatsalam and Ajith Gunjal to probe allegations of job scam and fund misuse at Karnataka State Open University(KSOU) and Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU).
While Bhakthavatsalam will probe against KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. M.G. Krishnan and his predecessor and incumbent VC of University of Mysore K.S.Rangappa for alleged misappropriation of funds and violation of rules in making appointments, Ajith Gunjal will investigate the case relating to VTU, it is learnt.
It is also learnt that the Governor has set up a separate panel to probe into the allegations against VTU VC H. Maheshwarappa.
KSOU Registrar P.S. Naik, confirming the setting up of probe panels said that the panel would look into Rangappa and Krishnan’s acts of omission and commission in the past five years.
According to sources, the VCs have not followed the system while making appointments and have recruited retired and unqualified persons to various posts in Computer Section and Competitive Examinations Training Centre.
Sources also pointed out that a diploma holder had been appointed as Executive Engineer without the statutory approval from the Syndicate.
