Government tries to promote electrical vehicles

Bengaluru: A programme, intended to promote use of electric vehicles in the city was organised by the Department of Transport recently. E-autos, e-carte s of various companies were exhibited on the occasion and information was distributed to drivers and the general public.

In his inaugural speech, Transport Minister H M Revanna said, “e-vehicles will help in reducing the air and sound pollution levels in the city. Their maintenance is easy. Public and auto drivers have to show interest in e-vehicles.” Meanwhile, provision was there to test-ride the e-rickshaws.

A maximum of 4 passengers can travel in e- autos, which travels at an average speed of 25 km/hour with 310 kg of weight. If the battery gets charged for 8 hours, the vehicle can run up to 8 hours. Actor Gurunandan requested the general public to cooperate with the government saying that by using e-vehicles, one could help in controlling the pollution.
