Bengaluru: Newly developed areas of Bengaluru city like Whitefield, Mahadevapura, Electronic City etc are known for civic activism. Various civic groups have made the government agencies to adopt latest technologies to ensure that they will work with the local communities.

Best example for this change is how local police stations have adopted themselves to the changing trend. For example, recently Mahadevpura and Whitefield police station officials used online civic groups to inform people about the precautions the residents needed to follow while going on summer vacation.

In a message to the local residents, police of both these stations have given safety tips to be followed when the families venture out of their homes on long vacations.

This include keeping the valuables, jewelry in your bank lockers, avoiding keeping large amount of cash at homes, assigning relatives or neighbors to switch on/off lights & clear daily newspapers. According to the police lights switched on 24/7 and unpicked newspaper indicate absence of the owners at home, making the locked homes easy target to the burglars.

Police wants the residents to inform jurisdictional police station about their travel plans. According to them it will help the beat police constable and community policing ASMs to keep an eye on these houses. Police also wants house owners to share the numbers of house maid/domestic help and other contact numbers with them.
