Bengaluru: The case of the death of a teenaged girl in Bengaluru took an interesting and rather grizzly turn, when the police finally arrested the woman complainant and her daughter after investigations revealed that the mother-daughter duo had beaten the girl to death on May 2.

The police had earlier detained Gayatri, mother of the deceased after she had confessed to killing her daughter Sharanya.

Sharanya had the habit of spending her time either watching television or on the mobile and this worried her mother, who sought help from a relative Pramila (40) to cure her daughter of the habit.

As per reports, Pramila, who claimed to have the power of performing black magic to cure a possessed person, said that Sharanya was possessed by evil forces and performing certain rituals would drive them away.

As instructed, Gayatri took Sharanya to Pramila’s residence where she along with her daughter, Ramya beat the girl with iron rods to chase away the demons seriously injuring the girl in the process and ultimately leading to her death. Just to save their skin from the cops, Pramila convinced Gayatri that God was speaking through her and wanted her (Gayatri) to own up for the death of the girl.

An unsuspecting Gayatri did as advised and in her confession to the police, said that she had beaten the girl out of anger on finding her watching TV after returning from work.

The cops who were unconvinced with the story kept up the investigations and finally, after nearly 48 hours of questioning (that also involved the questioning Gayatri’s paramour), the truth behind the girl’s death was revealed.
