Bengaluru: The gas leak from the GAIL pipeline in the Whitefield area of the city created panic among the locals. However, the authorities informed that gas leakage was stopped immediately.
It is said that the GAIL pipeline was damaged at about 2 am on Monday, near Decathlon on ITPL main road of Whitefield, while workers were working on Namma Metro. The labourers immediately alerted the fire department personnel, who rushed to the spot and tried to stop the gas leakage. As a precautionary measure, the traffic police stopped the entry of vehicles into the Whitefield main road, which left thousands of office-goers stranded.
According to the sources, gas supply on the said line has been stopped and repair works are being taken up by the GAIL technicians.
