Bengaluru: Fate struck a cruel blow when an LPG gas cylinder blast at a gas agency, killing one and injuring three. The blast caused the building to collapse from the impact.
The tragic incident occurred at 10 am on the morning of May 6, at the MVR and Kwality Gas authorised dealership at Balaji Circle in Kadugodi.
The deceased has been identified as Syed Afzar (22), an employee of the gas agency. Afzar and another employee, Saleem were injured in the blast, along with two tenants from the first floor, Sultana (25) and Syed Zain (3).
Upon hearing the blast, neighbours alerted the police, fire department and emergency officials. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was also alerted to the situation.
The injured were rescued and rushed to the Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre for treatment where Afzar died while under treatment.
The gas dealer Parvez was arrested and a case has been registered against him and the building owner, Kaleed. The Kadugodi police have registered the cases under sundry IPC sections and The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Act (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order and Essential Commodities Act.
