Garbage crisis: Mandur residents to co-operate with BBMP

Bangalore: BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana addressing a meeting said that the residents of Mandur have agreed to “co-operate” with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike on dumping the city’s garbage in the village.

He was addressing a meeting with the Palike officials and the  protesting villagers on Sunday June 15, to arrive at  a solution to the garbage crisis.

He said that the BBMP  has managed to convince the villagers  to support the corporation for the next five months.

City in-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that they were helpless and had to dump garbage at Mandur landfill until alternative locations were found.

During the recent meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, we proposed the idea of purchasing the land, he added.

BBMP Commissioner said that the civic agency was chalking out a solution by setting up waste processing units.
