Bengaluru: A software engineer was robbed by a gang of four in the wee hours of Saturday in Mahadevapura police limits.

The police have identified the victim as Vishnu, a 22-year-old software engineer. According to the police, the victim had just finished his shift at his workplace in Marathahalli and was looking to return to his paying guest accommodation near at Mahadevapura. He was waiting for the office transport late in the night to return home when four men in a car approached him and offered to drop him home.

When Vishnu refused, they forced him into the car and drove off towards Hebbagodi. On the way, the gang slashed Vishnu’s hand when he tried to resist, and took away his wallet.

In his statement to the police, Vishnu said the men forced him to divulge the PIN number of his ATM card. They used it to withdraw Rs 10,000, dumped him on a road in Hebbagodi, and sped away.

The Mahadevapura police visited the ATM where the gang withdrew money to verify CCTV footage.
