Bengaluru: The state government has appointed retired police officer G A Bava as the new chairman of the state minority commission.
The commission chairman post has been vacant for the past year.
A retired ACP originally hailing from the Dakshina Kannada district, Bava is close to both the JDS and Congress leaders.
Meanwhile, the state government also nominated Tippannappa, a Koli community leader from Kalaburugi to the state legislative council. The post was vacated by V S Ugrappa after he was elected in 2018 Lok Sabha by-elections in Ballari.
