Bengaluru: As the festive season of Diwali begins, shopping for ‘Goodudeepas’ (traditional lantern) and clay lamps have reached a peak, the reason being a drop in price levels.

Heavy rains over the past several days have also caused the rates of flowers, vegetables and fruits to fall by 40 percent. This has brought relief to the buyers, resulting in a sharp rise in ‘Diwali’ shopping.

Several areas of the city have been jam-packed with crowds thronging to buy the goodudeepas and clay lamps of their choice.

According to reports, the rates during the Diwali festival have seen a downward trend when compared to rates during the Dasara festival.
