Bengaluru: A four-year-old girl accidentally fell and drowned in a sump in an under-construction building at Muneshwara Layout in HSR police limits.

The police have identified the deceased as Amrita A. The police said the girl was with her parents Padma and Anjaney who were working as labourers at the building.

When the incident took place, Amrita was playing. Her parents, at work, had not realised what had happened. The incident came to light when the couple finished work and began looking for her. When they could not find her, neighbours and other workers joined in the search. After an hour, they saw the body in the sump. Amrita was taken to the hospital, where the doctors declared her as brought dead.

The HSR Layout police found that the workers had left the sump open. With the recent spate of rains, the area around the sump had become slippery. Amrita lost her footing while playing and fell into the sump. The police have taken up a case of death due to negligence against building owner Pratap Reddy.
