Mumbai:A four-storey building collapsed in Mumbra in Thane district this morning. The building is situated just next to the Mumbra railway station.

Thane Disaster Control officials are currently on their way.

No casualties have been reported so far. However, residents of the building told media that two to three people may be trapped in the building.

Earlier in April this year, a building had collapsed in the same area and claimed as many as 74 lives and left over 60 injured. Such accidents highlight the  shoddy construction standards in the country, where huge demand for housing and endemic corruption often results in illegal buildings and a lack of safety inspections
