Bidadi: The final rites of Muthappa Rai, former underworld don, was held amid chaos. Six of Rai’s gunmen were arrested by police for firing in the air while his son was lighting the pyre. Prakash Rai, one of Rai’s close associates, was also arrested for making the gunmen fire their weapons in the air.

According to sources, the Rai’s final rites were held at 4.30 pm on Friday, May 15. Only his family members and the leaders of the Jaya Karnataka organisation were present at the solemn ceremony.

Even though his second wife Anuradha, whom he married in the year 2016, arrived at the house to attend the final rites, his family members didn’t allow her to participate.

As his elder son, Rakhi was stuck in Canada due to the lockdown, his second son Rikhi lit the pyre. His personal gunmen fired in air, landing them in a major controversy.

The Bidadi police, who were at the spot, immediately swung into action and arrested all the six gunmen and took them to the station.

“Muthappa Rai’s manager, Prakash Rai, who made the gunmen fire in the air, was also arrested,” the police added.
