Bengaluru: Former minister Nafees Fazal has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party. Nafees Fazal was a minister in the cabinet of former chief minister S.M. Krishna.

Nafees Fazal has been in the party since the late seventies. Krishna recently quit the Congress and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. In a letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, she said that she has been humiliated by the State Muslim leaders as the Chief Minister was new to the party and gave them a free hand.

The former minister added that central leaders have no time to hear the grievances of party workers and have an attitude. “For reasons best known to you, I was unable to get an appointment to meet and share my grievances with you,” she wrote.

She said Congress has failed to take a stand on the instant triple talaq controversy. She is the second person to raise the banner of revolt against the Congress. On Monday, senior Congress leader M V Rajashekaran praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies.
