Bengaluru: Basavaraj Patil Humnabad, former minister, died in Humnabad on Wednesday. He was 75.
Patil was suffering from age-related ailments for over a year, said family sources.
He leaves behind his wife Umadevi, four sons and three daughters. His first wife Shakuntala died decades ago. His son Rajshekar Patil is a Congress MLA from Humnabad.
He served in the animal husbandry and power ministries of former chief ministers S. Bangarappa and S.M. Krishna. He was one of the few leaders in the state to have served long terms in both Houses of the legislature as a nominee of three different parties and served four terms as a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1978 to 1994. He also served as a MLC from 1998-2016.
