Bengaluru: The Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri has appointed Former Minister and Byatarayanapura Congress MLA Krishna Byregowda as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Saturday January 1, after former speaker K. R. Ramesh Kumar refused to take charge for personal reasons.
Kumar, on the other hand, will remain a member of the PAC’s 20-member panel, which plays an important role in monitoring the government’s expenditure and seeking probes into any noticeable discrepancies.
The Speaker formed the six standing committees, including the PAC, on December 27.
48-year-old Byregowda has become the youngest head of the PAC, succeeding veteran Congress leader H. K. Patil.
