Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah will visit DG Halli and KG Halli, today, September 2, at 11 am.
The two regions, under Pulikeshinagar Assembly segment had witnessed violent communal riot recently, in which the local Congress MLAs house was burnt down.
The former CM will interact with the locals to find out the reason for the sudden violence, which claimed lives of four, on August 6.
According to the sources, local MLA Akhanda Shrinivasa Murthy who is a staunch follower of Siddaramaiah will accompany him. No senior Congress leaders will accompany Siddaramaiah.
“He will collect ground report from the affected families. He is also expected to meet senior officials in connection with the incident,” added Congress sources.
While the violence reportedly broke out after MLA Akhanda Shrinivasa Murthy’s nephew put up a post insulting Prophet Mohommed in response to a derogatory post on Hindu Goddesses, many others say that there is a political angle to this, which revolves around getting a ticket from Pulikeshinagar Constituency for the upcoming assembly polls.
