Bengaluru: The state unit of BJP has made arrangements to get former Chief Minister S M Krishna into its fold.

According to sources close to Krishna, the veteran leader is meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on March 15. “He is most likely to join the BJP on March 15. If that does not happen, he is bound to join on March 16,” a close aide said.

Krishna, who quit the Congress after a long association of about 50 years, will reach New Delhi on March 14 to hold talks with BJP national president Amit Shah, sources said. Ahead of the New Delhi trip, the 84-year-old leader is visiting MM Hills temple in Chamarajanagar district on Monday.

It is learnt that the BJP State unit is keen to get Krishna into its fold before the by-elections to the Gundlupet and Nanjangud Assembly constituencies.

He quit the Congress on January 28 expressing dissatisfaction over the way the party high command treated him.
