Former beauty pageant winner arrested in drug racket

Bengaluru: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday arrested a top model from the Garden City on trafficking charges.

Darshitmita Gowda (26), the winner of Miss Queen Karnataka contest in 2014 was arrested under various sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. She is the fifth person to be arrested in connection with the case, which is being probed since November 2015.

According to NCB officers, the model was part of a multi-state racket which provided drugs to several high-profile customers and college students in Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Goa.

NCB, investigating the case confiscated 110g of cocaine, 19g of hashish, 1.2g of MDMA and one LSD blot when they raided a posh apartment in RT Nagar on November 30, 2015, where the model and her boyfriend Nishant lived.

Nishant was the only person at the apartment during the raid. During interrogation, he claimed that Darshitmita was part of the racket and managed all the financial transactions. The NCB issued summons after collecting evidences against her.

Darshitmita was taken into custody when she appeared before the NCB on Tuesday.
