Bengaluru: A group of unidentified men hacked the former BBMP councillor’s husband to death in Rajarajeshwari Nagar here on Thursday, November 19.

Umesh Belagodu, husband of Rajeshwari Belagodu, the former councillor of Nayandahalli ward is the deceased. Umesh was a BHEL employee.

According to police officials, the crime took place on Thursday, when Umesh was on his way to meet his friend. A gang of four intercepted his car near the Bata Showroom and attacked him before fleeing the spot.

The driver rushed Umesh to BGS hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Rajarajeshwari Nagar police are investigating further.
