Bengaluru: For the first time, techies have hit the streets in Bengaluru protesting against unusual lay-offs in IT companies. Hundreds of techies from Wipro, IBM, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, LNAT and other companies joined the protest on Saturday.
The protest was held infront of Freedom Park and later a memorandum handed over to IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge.
The protesting techies alleged that IT industries from America and other countries had been reaping profits for many years and now they were complaining that the target had not been reached. They also condemned the unusual layoffs and the consequent lack of job security.
It may be recalled that more than 20,000 IT employees have lost jobs recently in Bengaluru and their future is reeling under uncertainty.
