Bengaluru: Whenever foam forms on lakes in Bengaluru city, it is taken seriously. Byramangala lake in Bidadi is now witnessing foam and the residents of the area are blaming the local industries for causing the pollution by releasing untreated water directly into the lake.

The Byramangala lake is spread over around 600 acres of land. For the past two days, foam has started to form on the lake, posing a health threat to the locals.

According to them, the foam started forming in the lake after the heavy rains. “The local industries released untreated water directly into the lake. It is causing pollution,” alleged the locals.

According to Ramappa Suvarna, a resident of Bidadi, this lake is a source of water for farming for over 2,000 acres of land. “But these days, the people have stopped using this water as it is highly polluted. The pollution control board is blind,” he said.

He urged the pollution control board and the Ramanagar district administration to look into the issue immediately.
