Bengaluru: While 100 mm of rainfall is considered normal in other areas, this amount of rain caused a lot of havoc in Bengaluru on Friday evening. After 100 mm of rainfall, floodwaters entered over 300 houses and also damaged over 500 vehicles.

The main cause for the incident was an overflow of the Hosakerehalli Lake which breached after the rainfall. Basavanagudi, which is considered to be a paradise for pensioners was the worst hit. The Bengaluru-Mysuru Road was also partially closed due to water-logging.

Shantinagar BMTC bus workshop was also flooded, resulting in huge losses.

According to the data, the highest rainfall was reported in RR Nagar and Kengeri with 103 MM. In all other places, rainfall was less than 100 MM. However, artificial flooding caused wide-spread damages across the city.

The IMD has forecast that evening rain is expected to continue for the next two days.
