Bengaluru: The State government passed five more bills on Friday even as the opposition parties were protesting and demanding the resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister, K J George.
The bills passed included one amending the Karnataka Forest Act to increase collection of forest development funds from mine owners, another amending the Karnataka Housing Board Act to empower the board to collect development and other fee from its housing layouts and apartments and exempting it from taking government permission for projects costing less than Rs 2.5 crores.

The House also approved the approved amendment of the Karnataka Police Act, to allow the respective district deputy commissioners to hear the POSCO case instead of leaving it to the Regional Commissioners to do so.

Even as Speaker KB Koliwad warned the opposition that a budget of over Rs 1.4 lakh crore would be passed without a discussion, none of the members were ready to give in.

The Assembly is in chaos from the past few days with the opposition demanding CBI enquiry into the suicide case of DySP Ganapathi and also the resignation of Minister KJ George.

DySP M K Ganapthi, in an interview to a news channel hours before his death blamed the trio, minister KJ George, Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence A.M. Prasad and Lokayukta (Ombudsman) inspector general of police Pronab Mohanty forseeing danger to his life.
