The arrested, fall in the 30-40 years age group, used to collect Rs 1 lakh for each fake marks card or provisional certificate and Rs 50,000 for degree certificates and marks cards.

The CCB police arrested Kunal Kumar Mondal on April 12 on the charges of selling fake marks card to Satvik, a failed PU student who wanted to join an engineering college.

“Kunal Kumar Monal hails from Katihar district in Bihar and staying in Bengaluru east suburb. Mondal confessed to the crime and told the police that he has been selling fake marks cards and provisional certificates since two years in association with Kaushal,’’ Anand Kumar said.

Based on the information given by Mondal, the Bengaluru police have sent a special team to New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to nab the accused persons.

“We have arrested Sandesh Agarwal from New Delhi and Saurav Kumar Sharma from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. We are yet to nab Kaushal from Bengaluru,’’ Anand Kumar said.

The police have seized 732 marks cards of various boards and universities and equipment used for printing the marks cards and provisional certificates.

The police have registered a case against the accused persons under Sections 420, 465 and 471 of Indian Penal Code.
The police said one of the accused, Kunal Kumar Mondal, used to send e-mails to gullible students from Join Us For Education, situated at Manipal Centre North Block in Halasuru police limits in Bengaluru city centre.
