Bengaluru: The State Election Commission has issued calendar of events for General Elections to Zilla and Taluk Panchayats in the state. Elections to 922 constituencies of 26 Zilla Panchayats and 3884 Constituencies of 175 Taluk Panchayats in the state will be held in two phases.
In the first phase, polling will be held on February 13 as per the calendar of events except for Soraba Talu Panchayat of Shivamogga District which has not completed its term.
Election will be applicable to Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Belagavi, Haveri, Bagalakote, Uttara kannada, Dharwada and Gadag.
The last day for filing nominations would be Monday February 1. The nominations will be scrutinized on Tuesday February 2. The last day for withdrawal of nominations is Thursday February 4. Counting of votes will be held on Tuesday February 23, stated a release from the Karnataka State Election Commission.
In the second phase, polling will be held on February 20 in the following districts except Viajyapura, Bidar, Kalaburgi and Raichur Zilla Panchayats which are subjected to stay on orders of the High Court: Mysuru, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Udupi, Bidar (TP only), Bellary, Kalaburagi (TP only), Yadagiri, Raichur (TP only), Koppala and Viajayapura (TP only).
The last day for filing nominations would be Monday February 8. The nominations will be scrutinized on Tuesday February 9. The last day for withdrawal of nominations is Thursday February 11. Counting of votes will be held on Tuesday February 23.
