Bengaluru: Industries and Tourism Minister R.V. Deshpande on Wednesday said that Cauvery River Gallery will be established by the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI).

He also said that the ministry will be spending a sum of Rs. 3.5 crore for the project.

State Tourism Department signed an agreement with the officials of the NASI to establish the gallery in Mysuru, which would be first river gallery in South India. It is said to be an attempt by the tourism department to showcase the life, culture and biodiversity supported by the river.

“The NSAI will execute the project and take up maintenance for three years. During its maintenance, officials of the NSAI would train local government authorities on how to maintain and administer the gallery” said Deshpande.

The National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) would facilitate the implementation of the project.
