Fire breaks out at electronics shop, one charred to death

Bengaluru: One person was charred to death when a major fire broke out at an electrical warehouse on BVK Iyengar Road at Chickpet on Friday, September 16. 

According to police sources, the fire and emergency services staffs recovered a charred body of an unidentified person from the spot. The body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem.

The incident took place at around 4:30 am at the warehouse of Maya Electric shop. As many as 9 fire brigade vehicles pressed themselves into action for three hours to bring the fire under control. Two persons were reportedly injured in the mishap. Two bikes were gutted as well.

It is suspected that the fire occurred due to a short circuit. The sound of an explosion was first heard in the ground floor. The raging fire then spread to the entire three-storyed structure.

The loss is said to be in lakhs as several electronic items and two bikes got gutted in the mishap. The police are probing the reason behind the tragedy.
